International Children’s Day (also known as Children’s Day, International Children’s Day) is celebrated on June 1 every year. To commemorate the Lidice massacre of June 10, 1942 and all children who died in war around the world, to oppose the killing and poisoning of children, and to protect the rights of children.
In November 1949, the International Democratic Women’s Federation held a council meeting in Moscow, China and other countries’ representatives angrily exposed the imperialists and reactionaries killed, poisoned children’s crimes. The meeting decided to June 1st each year as the International Children’s Day. It is in order to protect the world’s children’s right to survival, health and education, custody, in order to improve the lives of children, in order to oppose the killing of children and poison children and the establishment of the festival. Many countries in the world have set June 1st as children’s holiday.
The establishment of international Children’s Day, and took place during world War II a massacre – the Lidice massacre related. June 10, 1942, the German fascists shot and killed more than 140 male citizens above the age of 16 and all babies in the village, and took women and 90 children to concentration camps. Many countries in the world will be June 1 as children’s festival, especially in socialist countries. In Europe and the United States, the date of the Children’s Day is different, and there are often few public celebrations. Therefore, some people misunderstand that only socialist countries will June 1 as the international Children’s Day.
In order to protect the rights and interests of children all over the world, in November 1949, the International Democratic Women’s Federation held in Moscow executive committee decided to June 1 every year as the International Children’s Day. After the founding of new China, the Central People’s Government Administrative Council in December 23, 1949 provisions, the Chinese Children’s Day and the international Children’s Day unified.
The concept of “International Children’s Day” was first proposed at the International conference on the welfare of children held in Geneva, Switzerland in August 1925.
This conference has 54 countries to protect children’s representatives, gathered in Geneva, Switzerland, held the “international conference on children’s happiness”, through the Geneva declaration to protect children. In the declaration, the spiritual enjoyment of children, the relief of poor children, the avoidance of dangerous work for children, the acquisition of livelihood opportunities for children, and how to save children and other issues, have a heated discussion.
